Hello Dancers
SeaPlay Cruise IV turned out to be another great time and vacation away from the everyday grind. I say “turned out to be…” because at first we didn’t have all the pieces in place. However, with 84 dancers joining together for 6 days and nights of dancing and relaxing, our trip to Key West, Grand Cayman and Jamaica became another successful adventure. Except for some rain the first night leaving and the last night coming back the weather was perfect and the sailing very smooth. Along with 10 hours of workshops we managed 12 ½ hours of Open dancing just for our group spread over 5 evenings with one night off to ‘take over’ the ships dance floors in several clubs on board. We were far and away the best dancers wherever we showed up and that includes a few Latin and general dance themed venues, and after our own dance time many of us continued till the ‘wee’ hours every night in the disco. Although our own Open Dancing was ‘on the deck’ under the stars every night, it was the best place to be for floor space that was kept very ‘danceable’. Everyone reported having fun on the land excursions and I was surprised to find there actually was a ‘Bobsled’ ride in Jamaica that several enjoyed (but I missed).
Lots of Thanks to go around beginning with Jean Bell our Cruise Specialist whom as always ‘managed’ getting everyone matched up as ‘roomies’ and much of the initial scheduling. ‘KMac’ – Kevin McDeed our FloorPlay Club DJ whom as always provided great dance music and sound system. Trish Berlanga my fellow Professional Instructor who conducted some terrific workshops and was a delight to have on board. Bill Bray & Maria Hardy FloorPlay Staff who helped set up, break down and coordinate much behind the scenes. And, as always, Thanks to all who joined us on SeaPlay IV and helped make it the fun, friendly, cruise it was. 10 States and Canada were represented and many were repeat cruisers with our group. Stay ‘tuned’ for info regarding SeaPlay V which we now begin setting up for next year. Each year we learn and try hard to improve the program so any suggestions are welcome as well as request of where to go.
This years ship the Carnival Freedom although being a fairly new ship, did not offer the best dance and class venues and we will be sure to check more thoroughly for better accommodations although the staterooms were some of the roomiest I’ve experienced.
We will soon get the group picture out to everyone and it will be posted here on our website. Also, check the web address below for posting of clips from dancing and classes courtesy of Jean Bell.
Thanks again for helping make SeaPlay IV a success and hope to see you all at our FloorPlay New Years Swing Vacation
Sincerely,
Mark Traynor
