the artist, car enthusiast, ladies man, dancer, jokester and most of all FRIEND, passed away peacefully in the hospital this morning a few minutes before 1 a.m. His long time girlfriend, Linda, his friend from high school in Chicago, Cheryl, and I were with him when he passed. His children, Lisa and Howard, were on the phone from Chicagocontinuously talking to him almost up to the final moment although he had quit responding to people shortly after 7:30 last night. Memorial services will be held for him soon and I will be sending the information as soon as the plans are finalized. If you have any pictures that you would like me to try to include in the memorial please send them via email to me at wplady@embarqmail.com and I will do my best to include them. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the visitors, cards, gifts, calls and well wishes that he had in his final days and throughout his life. Harry and I have spoken at length almost every day in person or by phone for the past 12 years, so I will miss him terribly as I know many of you will miss him. As we told him last night……..”we will see him on the other side” and knowing Harry he will be waiting there to greet us and tell us the latest joke!

May you rest in peace my darling Harry you were greatly loved by many people during your life and you will be greatly missed by many people now.

Diane Scott

‘TIME’

I don’t think there has ever been anything written that can truly soften the blow, nor alleviate the pain that friends and family feel when losing a loved one. We can find some comfort in our faith, some joy in our memories and some motivation to treat our own mortality with more respect, but never an answer as to ‘why’ that will satisfy our curiosity. ‘Time’ is an elusive element whose measurement while incremental, can’t be negotiated. We can only hope to share the time we have, with those we love, in such a way as to feel proud and fortunate for the opportunity to have done it together.

by Mark Traynor

This page is dedicated to our friends and fellow dancers who have recently had to leave us behind. We trust that whatever their personal idea of Heaven is, they have found their way.

We lost a very good friend a couple months ago when Mark James left us. It was quite a shock especially because Mark always seemed quite healthy and happy all the time since I’d known him. He started in my classes about 4-5 years ago and was a constant supporter of the Club ever since. A great guy, very friendly, always with a big smile on his face, if someone happens to have a picture you could send please do so. I know the ladies will miss dancing with him as will the dance community and I know he had some children so we wish his family well and hope they find comfort in knowing their father was a well respected guy and will be missed but not forgotten.

For those who have known John, we are fortunate to have been a friend and can take some solace in celebrating the life of strong character, respect, compassion and integrity that he lived every day. Our sincere sympathies and thoughts need be with Sarah, with whom John found true love and because of whom, has moved on a contented man.

We’ll surely miss John Leet.

I’ve known Ron for at least 14 years and he is well known all over the country and in the WCS community in particular. Ron’s passing will be a great loss to the community, and even more so for his family and friends, especially at this time of year. Our condolences go out to those closest to him, and we wish them peace and strength to help them through their, and our, tragic loss. We have all been ‘connected’ to him in some way. If you’ve ever danced at our event in the past (Floorplay New Years Swing Vacation), as well as this year’s to come, or at many of the events around the country, you are dancing on his floor. I’m sure he will rest well knowing he is still serving the dance community he loved so much.
